INNOVATIVE TECHNOLOGIES FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT OF TOURISM IN THE CARPATHIAN REGION

Abstract


Thearticle is devoted to the use of renewableenergy in sustainable tourism and recreationaldevelopment of the Carpathian region.The paper proposes recommendationsfor pre-innovation segment of the tourisminfrastructure to future development for majortourist centers as well as isolated settlementsas part of the Carpathian region onthe example of solar energy. The reasonsfor implementing solar energy as an innovativecomponent of sustainable tourismin the Carpathian region are proved. Solarradiation depends on altitude, slope orientationand other meso- and microfactors,but throughout the Carpathian region willexceed 1,000 kWh per 1 m2 of a year. Thatenables active in «green» tariff for electricitybuild as industrial, cost-effective solarpower, as the source and use of solar energyfor tourist complexes, private rural «greentourism» estates, street lighting etc.. Specificinvestments make $ 1500-1800 / kW of installedcapacity. It is proved that the developmentof solar energy in the recreationaland tourism development in the Carpathianregion has no objective resources, technical,operational, environmental and economicobstacles. When operating facilities usingsolar energy produces electricity withoutusing fossil (or nuclear) fuel, providing acorresponding decrease of fuel consumptionfor conventional thermal or nuclear powerplants. Energy saved by using renewable,environmentally-friendly sources of energyis a promising innovative segment in the developmentof tourism infrastructure, developmentof green tourism in the Carpathianregion. If there are more investments in thefuture, it will result in an increased touristdemand.
