Abstract


Thomism’s doctrine as idea principles ofDominican order’s educational activity inthe second half of the ХІХth century –1930s was highlighted in the article. TheDominican neo-Thomist’s pedagogiantheory by Jatsek Woronetsky was analysed.The signs of doctrine’s practical wayin the theory of studying and upbringingwere determined. The priority of upbringingover studying according to neo-Thomistic doctrine was emphasized. Theissue of morality and ethics and their relationshipwith pedagogics was reviewed.The value of upbringing in forming ofmind and will as ways of cognition wasemphasized. The goals of upbringing weredetermined. The role of teological sciencesin teaching methodics in Dominicanschools was disclosed. Pedagogical universalismas nessesarity of personality’sdevelopment in process of his(her) upbringingwas defined. The influence ofupbringing on forming pupils’ personalitywas pointed out. The role of religioussurvey and responsibility in upbringing ofchildren in Dominican schools was determined.Absence of ideology as factor ofupbringing process was pointed out. Therole of human factor as object of upbringingprocess and formation of human personalitywas revealed. The role of upbringingas factor of human’s choice betweengood and evil was determined.Types of upbringing according to environmentand human goals were pointedout. Directions of pupil’s upbringing werefound out. The value of the surroundingsfor formation of personality was revealed.Human life and its savety as main goal ofeducation and upbringing in neo-Thomismwere determined. Presence of Christianityvalues as main component of upbringingat schools of Dominican Order was mentioned.The role of comprehensiveness ofupbringing for adequate perception ofreality and it’s Christianity centre throughthe Holy Scripture was disclosed. Thevalue of neo-Thomism in adapting of Dominican’seducational activity to newconditions was emphasized.
