Abstract


The sourcebase of the issue is described and systematized.The process of formation of polyethniccomposition of the population ofUkraine, including the main tendencies ofpopulation growth and resettlement of thelargest national minorities of Ukraine atdifferent stages of its development, has beenresearched. The reasons of the migrationof ethnic groups to Ukrainian lands are revealed.A retrospective analysis of the migratoryprocesses of the foreign ethnics anda comparison of the colonization efforts ofthe governments of the Russian and Austro-Hungarian empires is carried out. The featuresof industrial employment, social divisionof labor and social structuring of theCzech national minority of Ukraine are determined.The infl uence of the policy of theimperial government on professional stratification and property stratifi cation of theCzech population is analyzed, and the levelof its education is clarifi ed. These indicatorswere important criteria for understandingthe social conditions of non-Ukrainianpopulation, its ethnic identity, the formationof the national elite, the possibilities forself-organization, places in public life, andso on. An important place in the work is devotedto the analysis of the main tendenciesof the ethnopolitics of the government ofthe Russian Empire on the Ukrainian lands,including the political and legal positionof the Czech national minority of Ukraineduring the First World War. It is noted thatthe Czech national minority of Ukraine acceptedthe revolutionary changes that tookplace at the end of the war in the RussianEmpire. The level of political mobilizationof the Czech national minority, its attitudetowards the formation of the Ukrainianstate and participation in the representativeand executive power have been determined.
