MAGAZINE «RUSSKIJ E’KSKURSANT» AS A SOURCE FOR STUDYING THE HISTORY OF SCHOOL STUDENT EXCURSIONS IN UKRAINE (THE LATE XIXth – THE EARLY XXth CENTURIES).

Abstract


The article provides asource analysis of the magazine «Russkije’kskursant», which was published by theYaroslavl Excursion Commission. The mainpurpose of the study is to determine its informativepotential for studying the history ofthe student excursion movement in Ukrainewith the focus on organizational issues.At the beginning of the twentieth century,the magazine «Russkij e’kskursant»was one of the most popular specializedtourist-excursion publications of the RussianEmpire. He went out every monthduring 1914–1917. The magazine’s pagescovered various issues of tourist-excursionlife of the whole empire, including in Ukrainianterritories. It published articles on thetheory and practice of excursions, storiesabout the trips and planned trips, tips andrecommendations for organizing excursions,especially in educational institutions,background information, as well as reviewsof new thematic literature.It is established that despite the fact thatthe magazine «Russkij e’kskursant» waspublished in Central Russia, it is an importantsource for the history of the excursionin Ukraine. It contains a lot of diverse informationthat allows you to form a generalidea of the process of organizing studentexcursions. Thematically it can be dividedas follows: planning of walks and trips; materialand technical support (travel, accommodation,food, equipment); participationof state authorities, local self-governmentand public organizations; reference data.
