THE IMAGE OF MULTICULTURAL WORLD IN THE PEDAGOGICAL CONTEXT

Abstract


The article deals with the issue of multiculturalism. Various approaches to the understanding and implementation of educational programs in European countries, the USA and Australia are being analysed. The studies of today’s world show that we are constantly changing and multiculturalism itself, which is permanently evolving. It can be treated in many ways, either as an idea or ideology. The beginning of an ideological interpretation of multiculturalism should be found in the Renaissance humanist concepts. In this article the concept of multiculturalism is seen as the basis of cultural equality. The implementation of multicultural assumptions is only possible with the implementation of various tasks and content. This can be done by implementing a variety of functions, «especially cultural (heritage and forms of cultivation, revival of national culture), acculturistic (reciprocal borrowing, cultural enrichment ), adaptive (support welfare, social and cultural), liberation (autonomy awareness of native culture), civil (loyalty and understanding of creativity for the benefit of society, the competence in the field of lifelong learning, etc.)». This approach draws our attention to the image and understanding of the complexities of modern multicultur-alism. Only a deep knowledge and understanding of multiculturalism gives a chance to the coexistence of different cultures in the same area. In this regard, education, training and pedagogy as the science can help intercultural education. It is only due to understanding that we can realize ourselves and prepare for the meeting with Otherness and Others. Modern multiculturalism is increasingly around us and often in our families, hence there is the urgent need for it to be studied and accepted.
