Abstract


The article deals with cruciform wooden churches in Ivano-Frankivsk in XVII - XIX centuries, which are the priceless monuments of Ukrainian folk art. Special attention is paid to the hypothesis of the origin of Hutsul house, which has common signs in appearance with other types of Ukrainian wooden construction. It creates sacral architecture in Ivano-Frankivsk region and is the part of the cultural heritage of Ukraine. We can indicate the main features peculiar to the Hutsul school of folk temple construction: They include different details of decoration, special harmony of proportions, variety of forms and structures of architectural and artistic monuments. They show the fullness of identity of Ukrainian cruciform church construction. These churches are characterized by a distinctive architectural style, specific types of extraordinary richness and originality. The analysis of monuments of building wooden churches in IvanoFrankivsk region causes a great interest for researchers of original spiritual culture of Ukraine. One of the most prominent examples is characterizing the cruciform wooden churches, which were created mainly by folk artists with extraordinary taste, wonderful proportions. They became sacred buildings and a part of artistic masterpieces of Ukraine.
